Matthieu Acosta groeide op in een gezin met gitaristen, waardoor muziek en gitaar altijd een centrale rol in zijn leven hebben gespeeld. Hij startte op jonge leeftijd met klassieke gitaar en koos op z’n 14e voor flamenco doordat hij in aanraking kwam met de geweldige muziek van Paco de Lucia.
Het Matthieu Acosta Trio speelt zijn eigen, originele composities, waarin elementen uit andere muzikale idiomen doorklinken, zoals klassieke muziek, Braziliaanse muziek en traditionele muziek uit Zuid-Amerika, zonder dat deze breken met de duidelijke kaders van flamenco.
De flamencogitaar, dwarsfluit en percussie zijn in perfecte harmonie. De percussie voegt extra klankkleuren toe en geeft door de ritmische ondersteuning de gitaar en dwarsfluit meer ruimte om risico te nemen en zodoende nog meer expressiviteit toe te laten. De musici velen elkaar aan zonder dat het ten koste gaat van hun individualiteit.
Deze keer zal het Matthieu Acosta Trio versterkt worden met special guest Irene Álvarez. Haar dans omarmt traditie en vernieuwing. Vanuit kennis en respect voor de steeds evoluerende kunst van de flamenco experimenteert Irene ook graag met andere invloeden, om zo de kaders van de flamencodans wat op te rekken.

Matthieu Acosta grew up in a family with guitarists, so music and guitar have always played a central role in his life. He started playing classical guitar at a young age and chose flamenco at the age of 14, because he came into contact with the great music of Paco de Lucia.
The Matthieu Acosta Trio plays its own original compositions, which incorporate elements from other musical idioms, such as classical music, Brazilian music and traditional music from South America, without breaking with the clear framework of flamenco.
The flamenco guitar, flute and percussion of this trio are in perfect harmony. The percussion adds extra timbres and, through the rhythmic support, gives the guitar and flute more room to take risks and thus allow even more expressiveness. The musicians complement each other without compromising their individuality.
This time the Matthieu Acosta Trio will be joined by special guest Irene Álvarez. Her dance embraces tradition and innovation. Based on her knowledge and respect for the ever-evolving art of flamenco, Irene also likes to experiment with other influences in order to stretch the boundaries of flamenco dance.
