David Katz is a renowned trumpet player from Chicago with an extensive career in jazz and beyond. He has toured with legends like Louie Bellson, Dizzy Gillespie, and Woody Herman, and has recorded TV and radio jingles. He has also backed stars such as Peggy Lee, Bob Hope, Gladys Knight, and The Temptations. David’s performance history includes notable venues like Rupert's 33 Club, and he currently plays with the Orchestra 33. A graduate of Northern Illinois University with a degree in Music Education, David is also the proud father of Burlington’s Library Director Brittany Jacobs.
David Katz has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Northern Illinois University. He played in the NIU Jazz Ensemble for five years under the direction of Ron Modell. The NIU band toured with jazz greats Louie Bellson, Dizzy Gillespie, Marvin Stamm, Don Menza, Frank Rosolino, Lou Marini and Arnie Lawrence. After college, Dave began performing in the local Chicago music scene. He did a short stint with the Woody Herman Big Band. He also has performed w/ the Louie Bellson Big Band on a European tour. Dave also performed in Poland with Orchestra 33. Dave has performed with The Who, Gino Vannelli, Peggy Lee, Linda Carter, Bob Hope, Manhattan Transfer, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Donald O’Conner, Liberace, Debbie Reynolds, The Temptations, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, The Buckinghams, The Ojays, Englebert Humperdink, Joan Rivers, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, Tommy Igoe, Louis Dowdeswell, Bob Reynolds, Dave Weckl, Jeff Coffin, Thomas “Bones” Malone, Dan Miller, Ernie Watts, Denis DeBlasio and Terrell Stafford. You have heard him perform on TV and Radio commercials for Michelob, Budweiser, State Farm, McDonalds, Kraft and many others. Dave currently performs with the Jazz Consortium Big Band, Orchestra 33, The Pete Ellman Big Band, The Vern Spevak Big Band and freelances throughout the Chicago area.
Matt Landon, a gifted guitarist, educator, and songwriter from Burlington, Iowa, is renowned for his expertise in jazz guitar. He has performed alongside jazz greats like John Patitucci, Joey DeFrancesco, and Chris Potter. After earning his Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University in 2012, Matt gained recognition in international guitar competitions, including third place in the 2013 Montreux Jazz Festival and second place in the Wilson Center Jazz Guitar Competitions in 2017 and 2018. Matt also holds a Master’s in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado, where he was a teaching assistant. Over the past five years, he has been a faculty member at Western Michigan University, teaching jazz guitar, theory, improvisation, and coaching ensembles. Beyond jazz, he is an avid singer-songwriter, performing across various popular music genres.
Emma Reynolds, a vocalist and music educator from Mount Shasta, California, earned her Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies from Cal State Long Beach in 2016. During her time in Southern California, Emma co-created and performed in groups like The San Andreas Sisters, a female vocal trio inspired by the Andrews Sisters, and Em & Em Duo, a contemporary group performing original songs and covers. Their second album, "You Are," was released in May 2021. Emma is passionate about music education and has been teaching private vocal and piano lessons since 2014. She also taught elementary music in Orange County for three years and has led workshops and clinics for high school and collegiate vocal ensembles.
Together, Matt and Emma bring a wealth of experience in performance, composition, and education, sharing their knowledge with students and audiences alike.
