MATT MALONE & THE HOLY SPIRITS:
Matt Malone is an iconoclastic singer-songwriter from the Victorian Goldfields, Australia, known for his commanding baritone and tenebrous lyricism often compared to Jim Morrison, Glenn Danzig and Nick Cave. Malone has shared stages with Kim Salmon and Hugo Race and performed at Sydney’s King Street Crawl ’26, cultivating a devoted following through his visceral live performances.
His critically acclaimed 2023 album For The Term Of My Natural Life (VRS Records) was followed by Made In The Image, Vol. 1, featuring I’m Bad Like Jesse James, a track shared by the John Lee Hooker estate.
Joined by The Holy Spirits - James W. du Plessis on drums and Benny “The Gentleman” Mac on electric slide guitar - MM&THS performed at the 2026 St Kilda Blues Fest and supported legendary post-punks The Sacred Cowboys.
In 2025, the band recorded with Loki Lockwood (The Drones, Spencer P. Jones, Harry Howard; Spooky Records). The sessions yielded a triumvirate of devilish releases: Wolfman, released on Halloween 2025; Jealousy, released on Valentine’s Day 2026; and The Beast 666, released in October 2026.
