An undeniable stage-chemistry showcasing a rare and alchemical blend of two exceptional songwriters and performers, longtime American legend Dan Bern and Canadian songstress Orit (pronounced O’reet) Shimoni have been joining forces the last few years, creating new, gorgeous music by intertwining their voices on old songs, and co-writing new ones. Together they create memorable, dynamic shows that are not to be missed!
They have recently returned from a six-week tour in Europe and the U.K to promote their brand new, gorgeous EP called BIRDS, and were met with spellbound audiences.
The two met at a festival in 2019 and were immediately engaged in the type of conversations about songwriting, art, and the meaning of being alive in this world that made them friends for life, but when they shared a microphone and sang harmonies for the first time they knew they had to do it again, and again.
Since meeting, (and under the duress and separation by a global pandemic) the pair has written and recorded demos for nearly 100 songs together, have written a play, and have released one album as THE NEEDLES POP GROUP, (released on a Spanish record label Lucinda Records) which they toured in the US briefly in 2023.
Getting together whenever they can, they have joined on 2 U.S. tours and various Canadian shows, always writing new work when they do, bringing the best of themselves to create something bigger than the sum of its parts. With their equally wide and complementary sensibilities, their songs dance through genres, but always have their incredible harmonies at the core.

DAN BERN
Dan Bern has been a captivating live performer who has enthralled a loyal and ever-growing fan base in the US and Europe since the mid ‘90s. His songs range from deeply moving to wildly imaginative and at times, downright hilarious, sometimes all within the same song.
He has been favorably compared to the great American masters of songwriting, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, and though he clearly draws from the great American tradition of songwriting, there is something deeply unique and compelling in Dan’s work that makes you want to get to know the man behind the songs.
He conjures incredibly specific imagery like in a painting and tells stories that make you imagine an entire movie. Though he does turn to cynicism and witty political satire at times, the real beauty of his work is that he is able to imagine better worlds, revealing a deep capacity for empathy and optimism.
Dan has made more than thirty albums. He has written songs for several Judd Apatow films (“Walk Hard,” “Get Him to the Greek,” “This is Forty,” “The Bubble,”) cartoon shows, and many other films and TV shows. He has opened for The Who, played Carnegie Hall, and performed at scores of festivals in North America and Europe. He has been featured in many podcasts and radio stations around the world, and given song-writing workshops and retreats.

ORIT SHIMONI
Orit Shimoni was recently nominated for best solo artist at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, for her album “Winnipeg,” which she wrote and recorded upon getting stranded in the city when lockdowns came in 2020, eviscerating her nomadic, on-the-road existence, which she had kept up for over a decade prior.
A former Montrealer, she put out her first album in 2004 under Artist name “Little Birdie,” and has been touring internationally and independently, full-time since 2009, primarily as a solo act. She has released 12 albums, all of which have received wide praise and radio-charting airplay.
Orit puts on engaging, emotionally riveting concerts, is a masterful storyteller and has a timeless, alluring voice.
" a wandering minstrel that shows great insight into the human condition and our collective conundrums." - Lonesome Highway
"Shimoni approaches the visceral and spiritual appeal of Patti Smith at her most mystical" - Blabber N' Smoke
“Orit knows how to translate what is going on in the world into words and music with great precision and accuracy.. If you don't know her yet, get to know her now. Urgently!”" Rootstime Magazine
"a wonderful balance of her lyrical genius, haunting voice, and musical talents. " - Ian Mattey, Winnipeg Concert Promoter"
"An emotional and powerful listen.... Dylan like as she encompasses empathy and condemnation" - Paul Kerr, UK reviewer
