Join us at the Shop at the Collection from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 31, when author Matt Haines will sign copies of “The Big Book of King ” and “The Little Book of King Cake.”"I once ate more than eighty king cakes in a single Carnival," author Matt Haines proudly remembers, demonstrating his dedication to this delicious Mardi Gras tradition. "So you can imagine how amazed I was to learn there has never been a book dedicated to king cakes!"
“The Big Book of King Cake” changes that with 368 pages of beautiful photography featuring more than one hundred and fifty unique king cakes, as well as stories from the diverse and talented bakers who make them.
“The Little Book of King Cake” is the story of Miley, a third grader who has to bring a king cake to school. But what king cake should she bring? There are so many types to choose from, it makes her want to cry!
With the help of a giant, flying baby and a team of talking pastries, Miley visits some of New Orleans’ favorite bakeries searching for the perfect king cake and hoping to discover the answer to that most important of Mardi Gras questions: what makes king cake special?
