For more than three decades, Matmos have been redefining what electronic music can be. The duo of Drew Daniel and M.C. Schmidt transform unexpected sound sources - from everyday objects and plastic materials to the mechanical rhythms of a washing machine - into intricate rhythmic and sonic structures.
Their work often unfolds through strong conceptual ideas, such as the acclaimed album “The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast”, where each composition is dedicated to a historical figure ranging from scientists to artists and queer icons.
Balancing precision, humour and radical curiosity, Matmos move between sound art, experimental electronics and playful sonic research, turning microscopic details into immersive musical experiences.

Για περισσότερες από τρεις δεκαετίες, οι Matmos επαναπροσδιορίζουν τα όρια της ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής. Το ντουέτο των Drew Daniel και M.C. Schmidt μετατρέπει απρόσμενες πηγές ήχου - από αντικείμενα της καθημερινότητας και πλαστικά υλικά μέχρι τους μηχανικούς ρυθμούς ενός πλυντηρίου - σε σύνθετες ρυθμικές και ηχητικές δομές.
Η δουλειά τους συχνά αναπτύσσεται μέσα από ισχυρές εννοιολογικές ιδέες, όπως στο αναγνωρισμένο άλμπουμ “The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast”, όπου κάθε σύνθεση είναι αφιερωμένη σε μια ιστορική προσωπικότητα — από επιστήμονες μέχρι καλλιτέχνες και queer μορφές.
