An opportunity to come together as a community to unpack this report so that we can identify actions we might take to support its vision.
About this Event

Matike Mai is the result of 252 hui across the motu asking tangata whenua their vision of a Te Tiriti based constitution for Aotearoa. It was instigated by the Iwi Chairs Forum and led by Moana Jackson and Margaret Mutu.

The terms of reference for the consultations and report were “To develop and implement a model for an inclusive Constitution for Aotearoa based on tikanga and kawa, He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Niu Tireni of 1835, Te Tiriti o Waitangi of 1840, and other indigenous human rights instruments which enjoy a wide degree of international recognition”

Over 5 weekly sessions we will discuss different sections of the report together, developing a deeper understanding of the kaupapa and consider how we might support constitutional transformation in Aotearoa in alignment with this vision.
