5-5:30 p.m. Demo and Q&A (Martin Commons, 2nd floor)
Learn how local fiber artist Althea Crome uses unconventional knitting techniques to create tiny works of art. In dialogue with Mulyana: Vital Ecosystems, a large-scale crochet installation, Crome’s talk will explore how fiber art can be both monumental and minuscule, expansive and precise. Over 25 years, Crome’s work has evolved from knitting baby booties for her four children to developing her own techniques, tools, and designs for her conceptual micro-knits, including miniature garments for the 2009 stop-motion film Coraline.
