About this Event
We secure important personal documents in safety deposit boxes at banks, yet every day we give away intimate details about ourselves online. Soude Dadras' project “Material Intelligence” examines our relationship with big data through an interactive installation that metaphorically illustrates the data lifecycle: how data is produced, harvested, processed, and reconstructed. Material Intelligence uses discarded data and mail and other paper as physical signifiers of virtual information. A series of manipulations transform the digital elements and paper into raw material, which is then woven into a large-scale installation. Visualizing these hidden processes forces us to confront our complicity in big data and the information economy.
Dates:
June 2 - performance as part of Underground's First Friday Event Series
June 9 - Solo show in the Public Art Futures Lab
Participants are encouraged to bring their own paper data to be incorporated into the installation.

The Futures Lab is a space to exhibit, experiment, educate and experience the role of technology as it relates to public art. By reducing barriers to creating and participating in this emerging space, the Lab seeks to expand access to cultural enrichment, provide the tools for local artists to thrive and maintain Fulton County's status as a creative cultural capital.
The Lab is made possible through the support of our Official Technology Partner Microsoft, our host Underground Atlanta, and our residency partners A&E Atlanta and MARTA Artbound.
