Join master fabric artist and storyteller, Maungarongo Te Kawa for a special workshop to celebrate Matariki! Come along and join our creative sewing circle, where you’ll get to weave together fabric, thread and magic to create a piece of art bright enough to light up the night sky.
Create your Matariki Star by selecting a celestial guide from the Matariki cluster and channel its brilliance into your craft. Under the expert guidance of Maungarongo Te Kawa, you’ll learn to snip, stick, and stitch your way to your fabric masterpiece.
All the materials are provided, however feel free to bring your own fabric – especially if it sparkles!
This workshop is a free family-friendly event, perfect for anyone eager to celebrate Matariki with creativity and community.
Head to the Te Manawa Art Gallery between 11am and 3pm on Saturday June 22nd.
