Matariki Community Celebration!
Join us for an afternoon of FREE creative workshops, fun activities and games for the whole whānau, followed by a shared community meal. Stay for part or all of the afternoon/evening - we would love to see you!
Wātaka / Timetable:
⭐ 3pm - 5.30pm: Drop-in workshops throughout the afternoon
Workshops include whakairo (carving), raranga (weaving) and rongoā Māori (traditional healing)- no bookings required, just show up and join the fun! There will also be games, crafts, face painting and a sausage sizzle so bring the whole family!
⭐ 3pm and 4.15pm: Workshops - Ngā Uku Waiti - Clay Instruments
Learn to make your own taonga puoro – traditional Māori musical instruments – using uku (clay). Guided by Whaea Karea and Whaea Moana, this creative sesison is open to all ages.

⭐ 5.30pm: Hāngi Dinner $15 per person.
Pre-order your hāngi and join us for a sit down community dinner where we will listen to a kōrero about Matariki and join our BBCP Waiata Group for a sing-a-long. Plus a chance to win some spot prizes at the end with our Matariki Quiz!

The Birkdale Falcons Softball and Northcote Tigers are preparing our hāngi, supporting us here at the community houses and fundraising for their clubs. Ngā mihi nui ki a rātou!
