The World Première of Dr. Roydon Tse's New Composition
Part of the ASO’s multi-year Embracing 21st Century Voices project, this co-commission with the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music features the award-winning Chinese-Canadian composer and educator, Dr. Roydon Tse.
Dalí Quartet
Joining the ASO is the acclaimed Dalí Quartet, Chamber Music America’s 2024 Ensemble of the Year, celebrated for elevating Latin American string quartet repertoire alongside classical and romantic masterpieces.
Sonia Morales-Matos’ Fiesta No. 2
Dalí Quartet will also perform the Annapolis premiere of contemporary composer Sonia Morales-Matos’ Fiesta No. 2. A vibrant fusion of Latin American dance rhythms with classical brilliance, this festive work for string quartet, string orchestra, and percussion invites the audience to a joyful celebration of unity, peace, and hope.
Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2
Immerse yourself in the lush colors and evocative storytelling of Ravel’s orchestral masterpiece. From the famous sunrise to the triumph of love and rescue, this suite is considered one of the crowning achievements of French music. Written by Longus in the 2nd or 3rd century, CE, and considered the first pastoral prose romance, Daphnis et Chloe tells the story of two foundlings who are brought up by shepherds and who fall in love at an early age.
