The NSO takes off with Masterworks 2: Flights of Fancy on November 13, 2026 at 7:30pm at the Arts & Culture Centre. Conducted by Tania Miller and featuring violinist Julia Mirzoev presented by Red Door Hearing part of HearingLife, as part of the NSO's Masterworks Series.
Andrea Tarrodi’s Birds of Paradise opens with shifting textures and rhythmic detail that suggest movement and natural imagery. Violinist Julia Mirzoev then leads Édouard Lalo’s Symphonie
espagnole, a work shaped by expressive solo writing, dance influence, and strong melodic lines.
After intermission, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 closes the concert with a rollercoaster of emotions, completing a perfect masterworks experience, a satisfying conclusion that highlights
the orchestra’s full sound.
