About this Event
Please note: Booking is Essential
The 17th century was a pivotal time in Dutch History. The Netherlands had suffered a long and bloody war with Catholic Spain and gained independence. The New Dutch Republic became prosperous and powerful leader in European trade, science and art.
Art became a unique way of expressing this new and exciting Dutch Republic producing impressive volumes of creative and highly technically skilled masterpieces which fuelled a flourishing art market. These masterpieces represented the world in which they lived, the ideals and the morals to live by whilst also reinforcing a sense of national pride. Join Linda Casey to find out more.
