About this Event

Hosted by artist and educator Jasper Wildes (they/them), this in-depth workshop is designed to show artists how to create engaging video content for Instagram and TikTok. With the ever-growing emphasis on video by social media algorithms, artists can no longer rely solely on static images to grow their presence. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this workshop will provide you with actionable strategies to create videos that showcase your art and attract a wider audience.

The workshop is located at the Block Community Hub located in the 1955 Broadway building in Uptown Oakland. There are ample parking garage options near the event space like Franklin Plaza Garage, Telegraph Plaza Public Parking, or street parking.

This workshop is part of Oakland Art Murmur and East Bay Open Studios Artist Professional Development series designed to provide tools and insights to help artists navigate the art world while also making community connections within the East Bay’s vibrant artist scene.

Jasper Wilde (they/them) is a non-binary abstract painter and educator based in San Francisco. Their vibrant and dynamic canvases explore the lived experiences of a trans person navigating the complexities of late-stage capitalism. Jasper shares their art and story authentically on social media, where their following continues to grow. As an educator, they have led workshops at Ruth's Table, Root Division and ArtSpan, using a teaching approach that empowers artists to express their emotions through their work.

Hosted by Oakland Art Murmur, East Bay Open Studios (EBOS) is a multi-weekend event that invites the public to experience art where it happens—inside artist studios, galleries, cultural hubs, and unexpected spaces. Since its inception, EBOS has been a free, family-friendly, self-guided tour showcasing the diverse creative talent of the East Bay (Alameda and Contra Costa Counties).

Each year, EBOS connects hundreds of artists with thousands of visitors across 12 cities, offering an immersive look into the work of painters, sculptors, ceramicists, glass and metal artists, fiber artists, and multimedia creators. More than an art event, EBOS sustains visual culture, fosters creative placemaking, and deepens appreciation for the region’s rich artistic communities.
