This lecture series, taught by Jim Stevens, will teach you to take full control of your camera and unlock your creative potential in this photography bootcamp designed for photographers ready to move beyond auto mode. In this two-part lecture course, you’ll learn how to confidently shoot in manual mode by understanding the essential building blocks of photography—aperture, shutter speed, and ISO—and how they work together to create stunning images. You’ll also explore key techniques and insider tips to improve your photos, including composition principles, framing, and how to capture more compelling shots in a variety of settings.

We’ll dive into different photography styles—from portraits to landscapes to street photography—and help you identify and develop your own unique visual style. A major focus of the class is learning to see and work with light. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of natural and artificial lighting, how it affects your images, and how to use it creatively to enhance mood, depth, and detail.
