Supporting the Sacrum
Balance Your Foundation: improve posture for better body mechanics
The triangular bone at the base of your spine is a very special joint called the sacrum. It’s nestled in the pelvis, and acts as a crucial stabiliser for the body - like a keystone that holds everything in place! It works to support, distribute, absorb shock and balance the spine.
Understanding its function is essential for health because it is crucial to maintaining posture, balance, and efficient movement. The stability and mobility of the sacrum is key to spinal integrity, overall mobility, and nerve health, which affects mood, motivation, and emotional well-being.
In ancient texts, the sacrum is a sacred connection in the human body. It is the "sacred bone" and believed to be a focal point for spiritual energy and vitality. This symbolic connection underscores the sacrum as a physical anchor, and is a bridge to higher spiritual understanding and awareness.
Learn how yoga can help balance the body through posture and alignment. Focus on strengthening the core and improving pelvic stability. Learn to feel and adjust the sacrum and pelvis for better alignment, and reduce the risk of pain or injury. Ensuring the sacrum functions optimally can enhance performance, prevent injuries, and promote overall physical well-being.
Yoga promotes body awareness and mindfulness, bringing a holistic approach to understanding and maintaining balance in the body. Learn how critical the sacrum is to body structure, as it supports the spine, connects the upper body to pelvis, and ensures stability and balance in movement.
The sacrum could be the gateway to balance and harmony as it is the foundational bridge between the spine and pelvis. Proper alignment and function of the sacrum ensure weight is evenly distributed, preventing strain and injury.
By supporting and stabilizing the spine, the sacrum creates efficient movement and protects nervous system function to maintain balance and harmony. A healthy sacrum is pivotal for structural integrity and well-being of the entire body. Support your sacrum and support yourself

Open Shoulders, Open Hearts
Yoga is excellent for opening and strengthening the shoulders
Tight shoulders is something we all feel sometimes, whether from too much working out, or too much stress! Shoulder tightness interferes with our health by limiting our range of motion, causing pain, or contributing to poor posture. When shoulders are tight; lifting, reaching, or typing can be uncomfortable or painful.
Shoulder tightness can lead to chronic neck and upper back pain. This impacts breathing, and can lower energy, contributing to fatigue. Stretching and strengthening with yoga can help alleviate these issues.
Yoga is excellent for opening and strengthening the shoulders. It engages and stretches shoulder muscles, improving flexibility and strength. These movements stimulate the heart and lungs, enhancing endurance and efficiency. The mindful aspect promotes body awareness, allowing us to recognise tightness or weakness in the shoulders, and discovering a path to better physical health and well-being.
In Buddhist belief, prayer is an act of polishing the heart, a metaphor for cultivating inner purity, clarity, and compassion. This "polishing" helps refine thoughts and intentions, fostering a state of mindfulness and peace. It is believed as polishing a gemstone reveals natural brilliance, we can uncover the innate goodness and wisdom within us. Perhaps the process of releasing tension from our shoulders, we can polish the back of the Heart and find spiritual growth and awareness.

Spine & Twists
Unlock Spine: Discover Freedom with Spinal Twists
Do you ever feel the urge to "crack" or "pop" your back?
It feels natural to want to release tension and relieve stiffness or discomfort in the back. Learn how to use yoga twists to safely "crack" your back and provide a sensation of relief and rejuvenation.
Spinal twists engage and gently stretch muscles and ligaments around the spine. Controlled and mindful twists in yoga promotes healthy spinal movement and use the natural rotation of the spine to release tension. Twists can contribute to a stronger, more resilient spine and a greater sense of well-being.
Twists stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which can reduce stress and promote relaxation. They aid digestion and detoxification by encouraging the movement of food and waste through the body. By gently rotating the spine, twists help maintain a healthy range of motion and prevent stiffness. This increased flexibility reduces the risk of injuries and chronic pain.
Yoga twists are highly beneficial for overall spinal health and well-being. Twists can help energise the body, calm the mind, and support overall well-being. They can increase flexibility, improve posture, and alleviate tension, reducing the risk of injury.

Yoga and Brain
Boost Your Brain: Yoga Enhances Cognitive Function and Mental Clarity
Yoga has a profound impact on the brain. The way we move in coordination with breathing increases blood flow to the brain, and stimulates brain development. Yoga combines breath and mindfulness with movement, which supports brain health by reducing stress and enhancing focus.
The vagus nerve is a key part of the parasympathetic nervous system. It helps regulate our “rest-and-digest” response. Yogaposes that stretch, twist, and bring deep breathing activate the vagus nerve, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.
Yoga stimulates the vagus nerve through movements and breathing which can have a calming effect on the body and mind. Regular practice of yoga enhances the ability to integrate sensory and motor information, which supports brain health.
Yoga engages both sides of the body, and the body's actions synchronized with breath enhances focus and mental clarity. This balanced engagement ensures each side isn’t tight or weak, and promotes symmetrical strength and flexibility. The combination of movement, balance, breath, and mindfulness in yoga contributes to improved brain function, emotional balance, and overall brain health.
Aligning the mind and body with the breath fosters stability and strength, enabling us to navigate changing times with calm and resilience. Yoga helps the body, and brain.
