Originaire de Vienne, Jutta Puchhammer-Sédillot a reçu sa formation au Wiener Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst auprès de Siegfried Führlinger et se perfectionna à l'Eastman School of Music, à Rochester, sous la gouverne de Heidi Castleman.

Soliste invitée par le Frauenkammerorchester, cette artiste renommée se produit en récital dans les centres européens les plus importants. Elle joue également comme soliste avec l'Orchestre de l'Académie Kayaleh de Genève, l'Orchestre symphonique de Bogota, l'Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, l'Orchestre symphonique de Laval, le Fine Arts Quartet, le Colorado Quartet, Musica Camerata Montréal et le Quatuor Alcan. Membre fondatrice du Trio Kegelstatt, du Quatuor Claudel, du Trio à cordes de Montréal et du Duo Puchhammer-Desjardins, elle occupe actuellement le poste d'alto solo à l'Orchestre symphonique de Laval et a occupé les mêmes fonctions à l'Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens, pendant plusieurs années.

Mme Puchhammer-Sédillot joue régulièrement avec des artistes de réputation internationale tels Lorand Fenyves, Janos Starker, John Perry, André Laplante, Chantal Juillet, Laurence Kayaleh et Anton Kuerti.

Jutta Puchhammer-Sédillot est professeure agrégée d'alto et de musique de chambre à la Faculté de musique de l'Université de Montréal, où elle a assumé la direction du secteur des cordes de 1999 à 2010. Elle est l'invitée d'institutions réputées dans l'enseignement de l'alto comme la Juilliard School of Music et le New School de New York, la Hochschule für Musik de Vienne, le Conservatoire de Lyon, l'Universidad Central de Bogota et plusieurs universités de l'Ouest canadien.

Mme Puchammer-Sédillot collabore également aux camps d'été du Perlman Music Program (avec Itzhak Perlman), de la North American Viola Institute (avec Heidi Castleman), du Centre d'art Orford et du programme Teach to Teach Teach (TTT), offert au Chili.

En tant qu'interprète et chercheuse impliquée dans le développement du répertoire pour alto, Jutta Puchhammer-Sédillot a créé des œuvres de plusieurs compositeurs canadiens tels Isabelle Panneton, Ana Sokolovic, Rachel Laurin, Alan Belkin et Tim Brady. De plus, elle a enregistré deux albums consacrés à la redécouverte d'œuvres rarement jouées: German Romantic Works et Alto Romantic Fantasies avec le Duo Puchhammer-Desjardins.

Passionnée par la pédagogie de l'alto, elle travaille actuellement à son premier livre The Viola Lesson en collaboration avec Heidi Castleman et Kathryn Steely. À titre de concertiste et de conférencière, elle a participé aux congrès internationaux d'alto depuis 1997en Europe, en Amérique, en Australie et en Afrique du Sud. En juin 2006, elle présida avec un énorme succès le 34e Congrès international d'alto, organisé à l'Université de Montréal, méritant ainsi la présidence de la Société canadienne d'alto. Elle a également organisé le premier Festival d'alto canadien, tenu en octobre 2009 à l'Université de Montréal. Son dévouement au sein de la communauté internationale d'alto lui a valu le Prix d'excellence Maurice Riley Award.

Born in Vienna, Jutta Puchhammer-Sédillot trained at the Wiener Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst under Siegfried Führlinger and perfected her art at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, under the direction of Heidi Castleman.

As a guest soloist with the Frauen Kammerorchester, this renowned artist has performed in recitals in all the major European centres. She has also played as a soloist with the Kayaleh Chamber Orchestra of Geneva, the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, the Orchestre symphonique de Laval, the Fine Arts Quartet, the Colorado Quartet, Musica Camerata Montréal and the Quatuor Alcan. She is a founding member of the Trio Kegelstatt, the Quatuor Claudel, the Trio à cordes de Montréal and the Duo Puchhammer-Desjardins, is currently solo violist with the Orchestre symphonique de Laval and held the same position with the Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens for several years.

Ms. Puchhammer-Sédillot plays regularly with internationally known artists, such as Lorand Fenyves, Janos Starker, John Perry, André Laplante, Chantal Juillet, Laurence Kayaleh and Anton Kuerti.

Ms. Puchhammer-Sédillot is an associate professor of viola and chamber music at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Music, where she served as director of the string section from 1999 to 2010. She has been a guest of renowned institutions as a viola teacher, including Juilliard School of Music and the New School in New York, the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, the Conservatoire de Lyon, the Universidad Central in Bogota and several universities in Western Canada.

She also works with summer camps organized by the Perlman Music Program (with Itzhak Perlman), the North American Viola Institute (with Heidi Castleman), the Orford Arts Centre and the Teach to Teach Teach (TTT) program offered in Chile.

As a performer and researcher involved in the development of the alto repertoire, Ms. Puchhammer-Sédillot has premiered works by numerous Canadian composers, including Isabelle Panneton, Ana Sokolovic, Rachel Laurin, Alan Belkin and Tim Brady. In addition, she has recorded two albums devoted to the rediscovery of rarely played works: German Romantic Works and Alto Romantic Fantasies with the Duo Puchhammer-Desjardins.

Passionate about teaching viola, she is currently working on her first book, The Viola Lesson, in collaboration with Ms. Castleman and Kathryn Steely. As a musician and speaker, she has taken part in international viola conferences since 1997 in Europe, the Americas, Australia and South Africa. In June of 2006, she presided over the highly successful 34th International Viola Congress, held at Université de Montréal, which earned her the position of President of the Canadian Viola Society. She also organized the first Canadian Viola Festival, held in October 2009 at Université de Montréal. Her devotion to the international viola community has earned her the Maurice Raley Award.
