Die Meisterklasse Dirigieren mit Jan Schumacher bietet engagierten Chorleiter*innen die Möglichkeit, ihre Fähigkeiten im Chordirigieren in Theorie und Praxis zu verfeinern. In dem dreitägigen Intensivkurs steht den Teilnehmer*innen der renommierte Cantanima als Studiochor zur Verfügung. Es erwarten Sie lehrreiche und spannende Tage unter professioneller Betreuung, gekrönt von einem fulminanten Abschlusskonzert in einzigartigem Ambiente.
The Conducting Masterclass with Jan Schumacher offers dedicated choral conductors the opportunity to refine their skills in choral conducting both in theory and practice. During the three-day intensive course, participants will work with the renowned Cantanima as their studio choir. You can look forward to inspiring and educational days under professional guidance, culminating in a spectacular final concert in a unique setting.
Voraussetzungen und Bewerbung
Die Meisterklasse Dirigieren steht für Teilnehmer*innen offen, die über eine Grundausbildung im Chordirigieren verfügen bzw. bereits Erfahrung mitbringen. Um eine hohe Qualität und Betreuungsintensität gewährleisten zu können, ist die Teilnehmer*innenzahl auf 8 aktive Personen begrenzt. Leitung: Jan Schumacher
Jan Schumacher ist Professor und Universitätsmusikdirektor der Goethe Universität in Frankfurt/Main und unterrichtet seit 2019 an der Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt.
Nach dem Studium der Schulmusik und der Germanistik in Mainz studierte Jan Dirigieren bei Wolfgang Schäfer in Frankfurt. Schon als Kind und Jugendlicher (Musikalische Ausbildung bei den Limburger Domsingknaben und im Landesjugendchor Rheinland-Pfalz) prägte ihn die Faszination des gemeinsamen Musizierens, die bis heute Movens für seine vielfältigen Tätigkeiten ist.
Jan ist gern gesehener Gast in Jurys und Leiter von Seminaren für Chöre, Orchester und Dirigenten im In- und Ausland.
Viele Jahre war Jan Mitglied des Vorstandes und der Musikkommission der European Choral Association. Seit 2019 ist er Vorsitzender des Beirats Chor im Deutschen Musikrat und somit künstlerischer Leiter und Juryvorsitzender des Deutschen Chorwettbewerbs. 2020 wurde er zudem zu einem der Vizepräsidenten der International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) gewählt.
Instructor: Jan Schumacher
Jan Schumacher is Professor and Director of Music at Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main and has been teaching at the Academy of Music in Darmstadt since 2019.
After studying music education and German studies in Mainz, Jan pursued conducting with Wolfgang Schäfer in Frankfurt. His passion for making music together was already shaped in his childhood and youth through his musical training with the Limburger Domsingknaben and the State Youth Choir of Rhineland-Palatinate—an enthusiasm that continues to drive his diverse musical activities today.
Jan is a sought-after jury member and regularly leads seminars for choirs, orchestras, and conductors both in Germany and internationally.
For many years, he was a board member and part of the Music Commission of the European Choral Association. Since 2019, he has served as Chair of the Choral Advisory Council of the German Music Council, making him the artistic director and jury chair of the German Choir Competition. In 2020, he was also elected one of the Vice Presidents of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM).
