We’re excited to invite our longtime friends and followers to join us again on this shared journey of transformation. From February 1-3, 2025, we’ll gather at ToploCentrala in Sofia to take the practice of whirling beyond the familiar, reaching new depths and embracing fresh perspectives.
Whirling is never a finished practice; each turn is a new beginning. At Dervish in Progress (DIP), just when we think we’ve arrived, that’s when the journey truly begins again. This Masterclass is a reminder that whirling is a constant, ongoing exploration. Join us in revisiting the art of whirling, not as a destination but as a pathway to continual discovery. Here’s what awaits:
• Dervish Tango: Adding New Dimensions to Your Whirling
Move beyond familiar whirling practices to combine the rhythm and grace of partner dance with the depth of whirling. In this session, you’ll explore the delicate balance between leading and surrendering, the interplay of masculine and feminine energies, and experience harmony in a whole new way. This isn’t just whirling; it’s a completely fresh journey into flow and expression.
• Exploring the Skirt: See Your Spirit in Motion
Discover the symbolic and practical meaning of the skirt, not as an accessory but as an extension of your body and a reflection of your spirit in movement. You’ll experience the skirt with a newfound depth, letting it transform your movements and enrich your practice. Embrace the skirt as a tool to bring richness, character, and grace to every turn.
• Performing DIP: Bringing Emotion and Story to the Stage
Take your journey to the stage, where whirling meets storytelling. This session will guide you to express your inner story through dance, leaving a lasting impression on your audience. It’s not just about technique; it’s about making your presence felt, connecting your emotions to each movement, and inviting the audience into your journey.
In this workshop, we’ll build on everything we’ve shared over the years, revisiting and expanding our understanding of whirling where we think it “ends.” In the spirit of DIP, whirling is a journey that continually begins anew, each step inviting us to rediscover ourselves.
