The second MASTER CLASS of the season will be two full days over the weekend on 14th/15th February in Lund, led by Mariana Araoz (Sw/France) on the In-Balance Method also with input incorporating VIEWPOINTS drama training by visiting expert actor/director/ pedagogue Matt Trucano (US).
This is a THEATRE MASTER CLASS held on a black box stage open to all performers, dancers, actors, theatre-makers, musicians, even beginners; using masks, puppetry, object theatre and movement.
Places are strictly limited and the class is open to all, so participants need to book.

ABOUT THE METHOD
The ©In-Balance Method is a method Mariana created throughout her work as a theatre-mask-puppet master, as an actor, writer, director, and pedagogue and she is considered an expert in her field. Currently taught by Mariana in drama schools all over the world, the Method is based on her 30-plus years of experience in theatre and pedagogy.
The focal points of the ©In-Balance Method for an ensemble on stage are:
-Transmission of knowledge
-Service on stage
-Balance of power
-Collective experience of movement, choreography and creativity
- using elements of mask, puppetry, physical and object theatre
ABOUT THE CLASS
The class is an in-depth introduction to the In-Balance Method on stage and focuses on the use of object theatre as a means of storytelling within peace art. It involves the use of mask and puppetry and object theatre to create balance between space, body and group on stage, within the framework of building an eco-system for storytelling which Mariana typically uses to interconnect, rework and heal stories from mythology and the classics.
ABOUT MARIANA ARAOZ
The class is led by Mariana Araoz, internationally recognised mask/puppetry & object theatre expert, professor of mask at Teaterhögskolan Malmö since 2013. She is the Artistic Director of TMR /Theatre In-Balance in Sweden, and of Maison de l'Equilibre du Genre/Collectif Masque in Paris and divides her time between Sweden and France. Her work is regularly showcased internationally and in Sweden. She teaches her In-Balance Method of physical theatre at drama schools in Sweden, the US, France, Barcelona including at Khio in Oslo, Ecole du Jeu in Paris. Her book is available for purchase.
ABOUT VISITING & GUEST TUTOR MATT TRUCANO
Matt Trucano is an American actor and director, originally from South Dakota, currently based in Los Angeles. With over 25 years in the industry, selected acting credits include Twelfth Night (Malvolio), Mother Courage and Her Children (The Chaplain), Three Sisters (Solyony), Orestes (Orestes), Rhinoceros (Bérenger), and Don Juan (Sganarelle).
Selected directing credits include Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire and Camino Real; Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Cymbeline; Molière’s Tartuffe and Don Juan; Thornton Wilder’s Our Town; Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler; Brecht’s A Respectable Wedding; and Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard.
Matt has worked in New York, LA, holds an MFA in drama from Columbia University. He teaches L’ Essentiel, Viewpoints, is an Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society USA and has had training at Ecole Superieur d’Art Dramatique, Conservatoire National Superieur d’Art Dramatique, Paris. Matt currently teaches acting and movement at the Stanislavsky Institute for the 21st Century in Los Angeles.
