St. Margaret of Scotland parishioners and school families—and friends from St. Pius V Parish—are invited to join together for Mass in the Grass + Parish & School Picnic on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in beautiful Tower Grove Park!
This annual celebration brings the St. Margaret community together for outdoor Mass, good food, fellowship, and plenty of time to enjoy the park. This year, the celebration will also welcome members of St. Pius V Parish, where Fr. John now serves as pastor in addition to his ministry at St. Margaret of Scotland.
The connection between the two parishes makes this year’s gathering especially meaningful. Mass in the Grass originally began at St. Pius V many years ago, when Fr. John was previously serving there as pastor. This year’s celebration represents a joyful return to the event’s roots, as St. Margaret’s welcomes the St. Pius V community to join in the festivities.
Weather permitting, the day will begin with 10:00 AM Sunday Mass, followed immediately by lunch and fellowship at the Stone Shelter. The shelter is reserved for the entire day, allowing everyone to stay and enjoy the park as long as they wish.
Those attending are asked to bring their preferred seating for Mass, along with drinks, games, blankets, and any other favorite picnic items. The parish will provide the main dish, while attendees are invited to bring a potluck item to share.
SMOS will provide BBQ (hot dogs and veggie dogs) and chips.
Potluck Items by Last Name
A–D: Fruit or vegetable (salads or trays)
E–Q: Side dish (bean, pasta, rice, potato, etc.)
R–Z: Dessert (cookies, bars, cakes, pies, etc.)
The event is FREE, but an RSVP is requested to provide an accurate headcount for the parish-provided BBQ.
RSVP deadline: Wednesday, September 9 at 11:59 PM.
