About this Event
Whether you've attended the Gnostic Mass many times, witnessed it once, or are simply intrigued by its beauty and mystery, this class offers a guided journey through its rich layers of meaning. We'll unpack the symbolism, discuss its Thelemic significance, and examine how the celebration brings these ideas to life. No prior experience or membership required – all are welcome in a respectful, open-minded space! All classes are free for members!
Who's teaching the class?
Terin Gutierrez Mueller is an Ordained Priest of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica, Master of Coph Nia Oasis, Past Master Masonic Lodge #195, Knight Commander Court of Honor of the Scottish Rite, and Knight Templar of the York Rite of Freemasonry.
What We'll Cover
- The Structure and Flow of the Ritual A breakdown of the Mass's sections (from the furnishings of the temple to the Mystic Marriage and Consummation), including the roles of the Priest, Priestess, Deacon, Children, and the People (congregation).
- Core Symbolism and Layers of Meaning The Gnostic Mass is multi-dimensional – we'll explore perspectives such as:
- The union of opposites (masculine/feminine, active/passive, Sun/Moon, Chaos/Babalon) as a celebration of creative forces and personal gnosis.
- Qabalistic correspondences, including elevations through the Tree of Life (e.g., from Malkuth to Binah/Chokmah).
- Connections to Thelemic cosmology (Nuit, Hadit, Ra-Hoor-Khuit), the rejection of original sin, and affirmations of inherent divinity.
- Celebration Aspects Practical insights into how the ritual is enacted – gestures, invocations, the Creed, the collects, the consecration, and the climactic "Hriliu" moment. We'll discuss how dramatic elements, poetry, and participation create a transformative experience.
- Open Discussion Share your observations, questions, or personal interpretations. This is a collaborative space to reflect on how the Mass speaks to individual paths of liberty, wisdom, and self-discovery.
This class is perfect for deepening appreciation of the Gnostic Mass, whether as a participant, observer, or student of esotericism. Come with curiosity – leave with greater insight into this living symbol of Thelema!
We look forward to exploring these mysteries together!
