Manchester record label and collective Mas O Menos takeover Freight Island with sets from Levi Love and IITSNIIX. NIIX
IITSNIIX is the brainchild of Manchester-based DJ and producer Kate Hazeldine. After teaching herself how to DJ throughout lockdown, Kate’s career kicked off in May 2021 with support slots for the likes of Max Cooper (Liverpool Grand Central Hall) and Låpsley (The Arts Club, Liverpool). 2021 has also seen her with festival slots at Audio Farm and Liverpool Sound City, alongside regular sets across a number of North West venues including Manchester’s The Old Abbey Taphouse, Wilderness Records, Liverpool’s meraki and Liverpool World Museum in collaboration with The BBC.
Kate also has monthly radio shows under her moniker ITSNIIX on Melodic Distraction (Liverpool), Steam (Manchester) and Longthrow (Bristol), as well as guesting on Reprezent, Worldwide FM, Threads and Reform Radio.
She is currently part of the national ReBalance programme (PRS/Festival Republic), which addresses the gender imbalance within the music industry. Alongside DJing, Kate also produces her own electronic music as ITSNIIX. Her debut EP ‘I’, released in July 2021, has received radio-play on BBC Introducing Merseyside and NTS, as well as making Spotify’s New Music Friday UK, The Loft and Friday Cratediggers editorial playlists. Most recently, she released a Remixes EP of ‘I’, featuring club-focussed reworks from five of the most talented up-and-coming producers including Manchester’s DaiSu and Qwirk.
Levi Love
As a DJ, producer and person, Mas O Menos founder Levi Love is larger than life. As anyone who’s been swept up in the raw energy of one of his many Manchester-wide bar or club residencies knows, the South African-born, northwest-based crate digger picks and makes music that celebrates the fulness of our existence.
