They will give a talk on Hecuba at 5pm in the Holsti-Anderson Room (Rubenstein Library 153) with a reception to follow in Allen 103A. Free and open to the public.

This talk explores Hecuba’s matriarchal power in Euripides and charts her emergence as a paradigm of maternal-political power—a power of a kind which has gone without sufficient comment in classical studies despite standing in striking opposition to both ancient Greek and contemporary forms of patriarchy.
