Fight Night Records presents a one-night-only performance of Marty Robbins’ Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs at the Brunswick Ballroom on Friday, June 19.A cornerstone of American songwriting, this infamous Marty Robbins album is widely regarded as one of the great early concept records - a vivid cycle of outlaws, lawmen and frontier justice. From the drama of “El Paso” to the steely tension of “Big Iron,” it unfolds like a Western film set to music.
Leading the posse is Henry Wagons, whose commanding, narrative-driven vocals bring authority and grit to these frontier tales. Emily Lubitz provides contrast and nuance, her unmistakable voice adding warmth and intimacy to the stark landscapes.
Backed by members of notorious spaghetti-western posse The Counterfeit, famed for their grandiose interpretations of music from the cinematic west, the album will be presented as a complete work, start to finish - from its most lonesome acoustic chapters to its full-blooded balladry.
