Did you know that Italian-Americans were evacuated from coastal areas and interned during World War II? At this event, author Lawrence DiStasi will discuss this little-known aspect of American history. Before the talk ends, local Italians can share how their own families were affected by World War II policies if they wish.
After the talk, you will have the opportunity to speak personally with Lawrence if you so desire. Lawrence will also be selling and autographing copies of his books. To see a complete of the books, please click here: https://martinezhistory.org/event/martinez-historical-societys-speaker-series-featuring-lawrence-distasi/
Sunday will also be the day of the Run for Education event in downtown Martinez.
The streets will be closed to automobiles while the run takes place. However, we expect the streets (other than Main Street) to be open again no later than 10:30 am.
The exact location of the talk will be in the picnic area located between the Bocce Ball Courts and the Skateboard Park.
