Set between 1937 and 1959, this sweeping historical epic chronicles the Dalai Lama’s early life, spiritual awakening, and peaceful resistance following the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950. With a screenplay by E.T. writer Melissa Mathison, based on interviews with the Dalai Lama, and cinematography by Oscar-winner Roger Deakins, Kundun is a meditative and deeply human portrait of faith, identity, and resilience.
