Martial Arts Mechanics Workshop

Join us for the first ever Martial Arts Mechanics Workshop at Reflex Performance Center in Pasadena, CA. Co-hosted by Dr. Charles Benandi, owner of Benandi Physical Therapy, and Michael Mills, owner of Kinetic Kickboxing Academy and EDGE Holistic Fitness.

As a collaborative process, Dr. Benandi and Michael have combined their distinct skillsets and shared passion for fitness and performance to create a unique, hands-on workshop designed to improve martial arts performance.

Regardless if you are new to martial arts, a novice, or a seasoned master, this workshop will invariably elevate your techniques to another level! Through the lense of functional anatomy, this workshop will identify and address key limitations of strength and mobility within the kinetic chain, and administer proven muscle activation techniques to instanteously improve performance.

Moreover, due to the foundational nature of these exercise treatments, participants will also enjoy a broad range of improvements in posture, body awareness, and performance in all aspects of movement.

Note: This workshop is intended to improve stance, movement, and punching/kicking techniques - regardless of background. However, this is NOT intended for grappling-style martial arts.

Dr. Charles Benandi, DPT is a highly skilled physical therapist with years of experience helping patients recover from injuries and manage chronic conditions. He is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to his patients and is committed to helping them achieve their health and wellness goals.

​Dr. Benandi earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California (USC), and has since worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and even in clients' homes. He has extensive knowledge in the areas of orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, manual therapy, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Throughout his career, Dr. Benandi has built a reputation for his patient-centered approach to care. He takes the time to listen to his patients' concerns and works closely with them to develop individualized treatment plans that address their unique needs. He also places a strong emphasis on patient education, empowering his patients to take an active role in their own recovery.

Michael Mills, Innovator of EDGE Holistic Fitness and Kinetic Kickboxing Academy, has over 21 years experience working as a Personal Trainer, Martial Arts Instructor, and Holistic Health Coach.

In 2018, Michael formally established Kinetic Kickboxing Academy in Pasadena, CA. This innovative martial arts system is based on the synthesis of multiple martial arts styles, functional anatomy and kinesiology. Fluid movement and energy transfer between techniques is a core principle that is both effective and fun to perform!

Michael is incredibly passionate about fitness. He has cultivated a unique and effective coaching system to help students learn and master martial arts techniques by breaking down complex movements into their individual components. Combined with his enthusiasm, dedication, keen eye, concise coaching cues, and muscle activation techniques, he empowers his students to progress rapidly.
