Join the and our for this day-long training for community advocates and activists to learn how to support victims of crime in exercising and enforcing their Marsy's Rights.

Working with crime victims and survivors can be challenging as they are often engaged with numerous legal processes at the same time. The Victims’ Bill of Rights, also known as Marsy’s Law, was enacted in California in 2008. Marsy’s law gives victims 17 rights in the California Constitution, yet many victims are not aware of these rights and do not know how to navigate the criminal legal system. Join us to learn more about these rights and to understand why victims’ rights are critical to the proper functioning of the criminal legal system.

You will learn from our trainers, Mariam El-menshawi and Kym Conover, how far victims’ rights have come and how we can work collectively to make these rights a reality for crime victims. We will share tips on how you can provide a trauma informed response to your clients while assisting them with their rights. Participants will identify best practices to ensure that rights are afforded to crime victims and develop strategies to make these rights meaningful.
