Marshall County 4-H Horse Club members are invited to a hands-on Obstacle Mini-Clinic at Full Circle Farm as we prepare for the Tricia Harbin Memorial Obstacle Challenge on October 31.
Members will learn how to approach and complete a variety of obstacles safely and confidently. Planned obstacles include:
- Gate
- Splash box
- Bridge
- L-shaped back-through and side-pass
- Ground poles
- 18" Jump
- Tarp crossing
- Teeter-totter, if construction is completed
- Inflatable “blowing man”
- And possibly a few surprise obstacles!
Activities will be offered both in hand and under saddle. Members may participate in either or both, depending on their experience and confidence level. No one will be pressured to attempt an obstacle beyond their readiness.
Local trainer and friend Christy Cagle plans to join us to provide additional instruction, encouragement and support, as long as nothing unexpected prevents her attendance.
Members who do not own a horse can still participate by auditing the clinic, learning how obstacles are judged and taking part in a judging activity. Horse ownership is not required to benefit from the day.
We will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and finish the clinic around 12:30 PM, followed by hamburgers and hot dogs.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend. Cloverbud members must remain with a parent or guardian and may participate only in approved no-horse-contact activities.
Please complete all required waivers before participating.
Additional instructions about horses, equipment, parking and what to bring will be shared with registered participants.
