After extensively touring Europe alongside bands like alt-J, Apparat and many more, Lea Porcelain singer Markus Nikolaus is ready to experience new grounds with his single, Bicycle Day, anticipating his first solo album, The Acid Kids.
The music of the upcoming album was written in Funkhaus Berlin during the lockdown of 2021 and was initially for the Lea Porcelain album Choirs to Heaven but soon started to show its own identity and character, a little more uplift than the melancholic buzz of the main band had it that „The Acid Kids“ was given a breath of life during seriously depressing lockdown times. Basically happy music to survive sad times.
Funkhaus Berlin gave all the rooms free to use, especially the penthouse that became a meeting place for musicians like Mani Orrason, Monstera Black, Lea Porcelain, Yann Lauren and many more to make music, record on Markus’ album privately whilst the world outside was holding its breath.
Born in Iceland and transplanted to Spain, with extended as well as brief visits to his birthplace, Mani Orrason was influenced by the music he heard from The Beatles, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen to name a few. That said, Mani’s musical style is no amalgam of those influences, but rather folksy pop goodness that showcases his own talent.
The concert will be followed by an afterparty featuring PAÀL and Porzellan Bar DJs.
PAÀL is one of Voitax’s founders, an avid vinyl collector and tireless DJ. Those who have experienced his sets will know his uncanny ability to adapt and move with the crowd. This is an artist who is comfortable drawing out long transitions between deeper movements, as he is rapidly cutting between high-energy, dancefloor bombs. At peak moments, tracks are mixed within minutes and somehow, before you know it, a whole variety of rhythmic electronics has been transformed into drum machine workouts, while not limiting himself to any genre. This is his relentless sound: wild and boundless – one that is also showcased with flair in his studio productions.
