About this Event
The Wise Leader with ULI CHI

Today, we have instant access to virtually all human knowledge. And yet depression and anxiety are on a sharp rise. What if information isn't what we need to live, lead, mentor, or guide?

In his soon-to-be released book, The Wise Leader, Uli Chi contends that what we're missing isn't information—it's wisdom. With decades of leadership experience in business, nonprofits, and Christian higher education, Uli Chi helps readers build this foundational virtue.
Looking to Scripture as well as art and literature, Chi illuminates the nature of wisdom as fundamentally relational and other-centered. In the context of leadership, biblical wisdom shows us the importance of wielding power with humility. Chi also provides a framework for the formation of character and vision in the lifelong journey of gaining wisdom. Full of substantive and practical reflections, The Wise Leader both forms young leaders and teaches experienced leaders how to pass on the torch meaningfully.

ABOUT ULI

Dr. Uli Chi's career is a testament to his unique approach to leadership. He has navigated the realms of for-profit businesses, nonprofit organizations, the theological academy, and the local church, gleaning a wealth of wisdom from each.

As an award-winning technological entrepreneur, he founded a software company that developed 3-D virtual reality software, revolutionizing decision-making for consumers and businesses.

His insight and experience are in high demand, with senior executives seeking his advice and multiple non-profits benefiting from his board service.

Currently, Uli holds key leadership positions in several prominent institutions. He is the board chair of the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health System in the Pacific Northwest. He also lends his expertise to the advisory boards for the Benaroya Research Institute and the Virginia Mason Institute, both in Seattle. As a Senior Fellow at the Max De Pree Center for Leadership and a Fellow of the Center for Faithful Business at Seattle Pacific University, he is at the forefront of leadership discourse. His book, The Wise Leader, published by Eerdmans in 2024, exemplifies his thought leadership. He also regularly writes for Fuller’s Life for Leaders daily blog, sharing practical wisdom for leaders. He contributes to the forming of leaders from around the globe through his teaching roles at Regent College’s Master of Arts in Leadership, Theology, and Society and Fuller Seminary’s Doctorate of Global Leadership program.

Uli has been part of his local Presbyterian congregation for over fifty years and has served that community in a wide variety of leadership roles.
