Marketing | Power & Culture Turning your cultural power into profit

Street culture which includes music, fashion and art typically originate from the inner-city areas of the UK born out of the need for self-expression and an act of rebellion from the “norm”.

Street culture is an expression of art that wasn’t created by the upper echelons of society or the middle class, but from those who come from a disadvantage background and often people of colour.

Our youth are our original culture makers and far too many brands exploit subcultures for their valuable insight into what’s hot right now. They turn that insight into financial gain to sell products back to these young people while leaving the creators and originators with nothing.

Marketing/ Power & Culture seeks to change this by teaching young people about the power they have and the value they are creating for brands so they can use their own cultural values to create businesses and revenue streams of their own.

Bridge Growth is partnering with First Class Foundation to deliver a series of workshops to young people aged 14-16 from inner-city communities in Birmingham to teach them about marketing and media and how it can be used to create value for themselves and others like them.
