MarketFest is a two-day event that celebrates contemporary Indigenous artists, artisans, performers and makers, and will share and celebrate the longstanding connection of Indigenous peoples to our community. Coordinated by Wilfrid Laurier University alumna Alanah Jewell of Morningstar Designs, the event will be open to Laurier students, staff, faculty and alumni, as well as the broader community, and aligns with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.Join us on Friday, September 27th from 3-7:30 PM, and Saturday, September 28th from 10-3 PM - MarketFest is free and all are welcome! MarketFest will be held at the One Market building in downtown Brantford. As the current owner of the One Market building, Laurier is aware of the complex history of this site. The university is committed to working toward restoring mutual benefit for Indigenous people and settlers in this space, as was originally intended.
