A triple-bill of new releases, including two on the Norwich-based CAMOjazz label, run by the organisation Camouflage...
The first set will be from Mark Howe, celebrating a solo release on the label, which will be followed by a duo set by Norwich-based trumpeter Chris Dowding and Manchester-based drummer Johnny Hunter.
The duo will be launching a live recording made at Cactus Cafe 4-5 years ago, now released on the CAMOjazz label. They have recently performed as a trio with Johnny's brother and guitarist Anton Hunter at the London Jazz Festival.
The headline set comes from Norfolk improvising brass trio Hard Edges, with special guest. Hard Edges is the trio of: Chris Dowding (trumpets & flugelhorn), Dave Amis (trombone) and Ben Higham (tuba & trumpets). Extending their recently developed 'Hard Edges Plus' project, they will be joined for part of the set by Norwich-based poet Andrea Holland, for their collaborative project 'High Wire and Hard Edges'.
The project explores some of Andrea's poems about her time living in New York. With the trio, they are extended and subtly arranged, to explore the street sounds and moving trains of that era. They will be launching a self-released CD at this new Norwich venue. There will be a bar, merch, coffee/tea, responsive drawing, guitars etc...
