OFF-ICE PRESENTER BIOS:

Eve Chalom is a two time world competitor in ice dancing, and four time National senior medalist. She received her undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan and went onto New York where she performed with several modern dance companies and with the Ice Theater of New York for about 10 years. She has worked as a performer and skating coach for many years, at one point, master rated by the PSA, and also performed and choreographed for Ice Semble Chicago for 8 years. She got a master's degree in Dance Movement Therapy from Pratt Institute, and became a dance movement therapist, and also received certifications as a brain injury specialist and a yoga teacher. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment settings, at a non profit for adults with chronic mental illness, and in inpatient psych hospital settings. She received a board certification as a dance movement therapist and opened a private practice 3 years ago, and also recently became a licensed professional counselor. For more information on her private practice, which includes in person, telehealth, and skating based sessions, her website is www.healingthroughmovement.squarespace.com. She is also certified in Transparent Communication and co-leads biweekly practice groups, please see https://pocketproject.org/pg/seen-heard/ for more information. She has served as President and Treasurer on her state board for Dance Movement Therapy. She also teaches meditation, qigong, and yoga at the Wellness House in Hinsdale for people recovering from cancer. She is currently working with two other figure skaters turned therapists on projects about communication and processing in figure skating, please see https://www.relational-edge.com/ for more information.

Ola Czyzewski, MS, RD, LDN, is a former competitive figure skater and professional performer who has dedicated her life to the world of skating, most recently as a coach, choreographer, and co-artistic director of Ice-Semblé Chicago. Having experienced the world of skating from these angles, she has an intimate understanding of the pressures, expectations, and culture that skaters navigate, and a deep commitment to changing it for the better. That understanding drives her work as a registered dietitian, where she believes true wellness is about empowerment, not perfection, and that the body deserves to be a source of connection, not conflict. Her mission is to help skaters rediscover what skating can offer at its best: a profound connection to the ice beneath them, to the body that carries them, and to the larger community that surrounds them.

WORKSHOP SUPPORT STAFF:

Ray Belmonte has over 45 years of coaching experience. He is a 4-time U.S. National competitor, a Junior Pair U.S. National Bronze Medalist, and a former soloist performer with “Ice Capades” touring companies. Ray is the Co-founder of “Ice-Semblé Chicago” and is also a retired physician.

Nora Klein is a full-time figure skating instructor and choreographer with a background in ice dance, synchronized skating, freestyle, and choreography. She is an American Ice Theater Level II Certified Choreographer, a USFS triple gold medalist, and a former national competitor in synchronized skating. Throughout her skating career Nora trained under the guidance of Lynn Paulsen, Mary Spencer Nofke, Eve Chalom, Jamie Whyte, and Sue Ervin. Nora’s approach to figure skating is heavily influenced by her experience as a contemporary dancer. In 2022, Nora graduated from Chicago’s COMMON Conservatory under the direction of Terence Marling, where she studied ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. During her time at COMMON Nora had the opportunity to perform works by nationally and internationally renowned choreographers. Based in Chicago, IL, Nora coaches beginner skaters through international competitors. She also continues to perform and choreograph professionally with Ice-Semble Chicago and American Ice Theater. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes the ongoing development of masterful fundamental skating technique in concert with mindful body awareness and meaningful artistry.

Sean Marshinski is a full-time figure skating instructor with a passion for overall skater development, specializing in jump technique, foundational skating skills, and athlete-centered progression. As a International, National and five-time National Development Team coach, Sean has guided numerous skaters to success through an emphasis on technical excellence and individualized athlete growth.

Sean’s approach is rooted in fostering resilient, well-rounded athletes. His coaching philosophy prioritizes strong fundamental technique while nurturing each skater’s athletic capacity and love for the sport. He believes that building confidence and skill on the ice transforms not only a skater’s performance, but their self-belief—helping them unlock their greatest potential.

A graduate of DePaul University with a degree in psychology, Sean brings a unique perspective on optimal coaching practices, performance, mindset and motivation. Following his studies, he toured as a principal soloist with Disney on Ice, gaining firsthand performance experience.

Sean launched his full-time coaching career in Boston, where he co-founded Athlete Centered Skating. Together with his coaching partners, he was honored with the President’s Award of Excellence, a recognition of outstanding coaching contributions and dedication to advancing the sport.

Now based in his hometown of Chicago, Sean continues to exemplify the core values that have defined his career: a commitment to excellence, adaptability to each athlete’s learning style, and a dedication to lifelong learning as a coach. He fosters a collaborative environment—both with fellow coaches and families—ensuring effective communication and shared success for every skater.

Sean values teamwork not just among athletes, but among the coaching staff as well. He is proud to work alongside Olympic and World medalists, continually learning from and contributing to the collective expertise of the coaching team. Above all, Sean’s goal is to empower every skater to discover their unique path and achieve their dreams in figure skating.
