Singer/songwriter/musician, Mark Cutler has made a living as a musician for most of his life. He is a 2015 inductee in the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame for his work with the bands The Schemers and The Raindogs as well as his solo work. The Schemers received national exposure on MTV after winning several New England music competitions. Mark’s work with The Raindogs included experimental collaborations with Iggy Pop and the actor Harry Dean Stanton. The Raindogs toured nationally with the likes of Bob Dylan, Don Henley, and Warren Zevon.
Mark has written soundtracks for various independent films. He continues to add unique entries to the great American songbook and currently leads The Men of Great Courage, the tiny string band, MMM, The Sorry Boys and performs as a solo artist. Cutler combines powerful lyrics with memorable melodies and driving rhythm and is always working on new material.
Born in the beer soaked basements of East Lansing, The Generics carved out a loyal following of fans with their high energy shows. From 1980 to 1983 they delivered their original “unbranded” power pop songs in clubs across Michigan, playing to enthusiastic audiences from Detroit to Ann Arbor to Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo to Northern Michigan. The bands culmination was winning the “Miller High Life Rock to Riches Battle of the Bands” sponsored by Lansing rock station WILS. As winners they were included on a compilation album of Michigan bands and headlined an outdoor concert in Lansing with over 2000 in attendance. After 1983 band members went their separate ways, scattered across the country, but stayed active in music. Since 2002 they have have been reuniting almost every year to jam and come up with new original songs. In 2018 they started playing to live audiences again. Now The Generics are reuniting in RI for one night only and bringing their high energy power pop to Myrtle.
