God designed nature to thrive within the parameters of laws governing matter and energy. As we learn from this design, we are able to use parametric design and 3D printing to model and make structures with intricate and optimised details.
This talk explores how large-scale 3D printing is reshaping the way we design and build, opening up new architectural possibilities. Parametric design helps create smarter, more environmentally friendly and more efficient structures, and biomimicry lets us learn from nature’s design to inspire better buildings. Together, these ideas show how technology and nature can work hand-in-hand to shape a better future of construction.
Marié Snyman is the co-founder of Drip Additive Manufacturing and a researcher at the University of Johannesburg’s Centre for Sustainable Materials and Construction Technologies. She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture.
