Two of contemporary jazz's most enduring voices share the stage tonight. Saxophonist Marion Meadows, a Berklee-trained multi-instrumentalist who cut his teeth playing alongside Norman Connors, Brook Benton, and The Temptations before launching a solo career in 1990 with For Lover's Only, has spent over three decades crafting the smooth, soulful sound heard on classics like Keep It Right There, Body Rhythm, and his latest, Twice As Nice. Pianist Alex Bugnon, who grew up amid the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival and counts Herbie Hancock as an early friend and mentor, arrived on the scene with his chart-topping 1989 debut Love Season and has since built a catalog spanning Epic, RCA, and his own Xela Records, including 107 Degrees in the Shade, This Time Around, and his 12th album, HARLEM.

Together, Meadows and Bugnon bring a combined legacy of R&B-infused, soul-steeped jazz that has helped define the smooth jazz format for generations of listeners. Both artists honed their craft at Berklee College of Music and built their reputations as first-call sidemen before stepping into the spotlight as bandleaders in their own right — Meadows with his soprano and tenor sax mastery, Bugnon with his percussive, gospel- and funk-inflected piano work. Expect a night of genre-blending grooves, standards reimagined, and the kind of effortless chemistry that comes from decades spent perfecting the art of contemporary jazz.
