Whether you're just starting out or already making plans, you’ll meet the experts, see real-life projects, and learn what it takes to get your ADU built — right here in Marin.
Morning ADU Fair (Free)
9:00 AM – 12:15 PM at Corte Madera Town Hall
Connect with local Planning staff, Architects, Lenders, and Builders. Get tips on permitting, financing, and modern construction methods

Afternoon ADU Open House Tour ($25)
1:00 – 4:00 PM at locations across Marin County
- Visit 8–12 completed ADUs across Marin County
- See a range of styles and sizes, from backyard cottages to in-law units
- Self-guided driving tour — wristband and map provided at morning check-in for paying attendees
Cost:
- ADU Fair (9:00–12:15) – Free
- Open House Tour (1:00–4:00) – $25 per person
Please note: Out of respect to homeowners, ADUs are only open for viewing between 1:00 – 4:00 PM.

Info: This session will highlight important new laws that can make it easier to build—or bring an existing unit up to code. We’ll cover updates around unpermitted units, new design allowances, multi-family properties and what it all means for homeowners. Perfect if you're just starting out or looking to make your ADU legal.

Planning- Building Dept ADU Tips! (1145 - 1215PM) – with Mark Setterland
Info: Not sure where to start with permits? This session offers insider advice from local planning and building staff on how to successfully prepare and submit your ADU application. Learn what documents you’ll need, how to avoid common delays, and ways to make the process smoother from start to finish. You can also ask specific planning and building code questions during Q & A!

Info: The self-guided tour portion allows participants to visit completed ADUs across Marin County, providing firsthand insight into design solutions, construction quality, and the practical benefits of ADU development for homeowners and communities. The ADUs will be open from 1pm to 4pm ONLY. **Out of respect to the homeowners, please do not show up outside these hours.**
