Keller, 2016 Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame Inductee, is a 44-year veteran of music and stage performance in Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Pop, Blues, and theater, nationally and internationally. Her musical roots are diverse. Her voice can be heard on multiple recordings, movie sound tracks, commercials and documentaries. Marilyn's formative jazz training was as a member of the Mt. Hood Community College Vocal Jazz Ensemble and as the vocalist fronting the award-winning MHCC Jazz Lab Band. She can be seen frequently at clubs, restaurants, festivals and holiday events throughout the Pacific Northwest. She remains active, performing with Don Latarski, Darrell Grant, Tom Grant, Black Swan Classic Jazz Band, Pressure Point Band and the Augustana Jazz Quartet, among many others.
Bassist Kevin Deitz is a composer/arranger, and multi-instrumentalist currently teaching History of Rock and Roll, History of Jazz, Contemporary Music Ensemble (rock band), string bass and electric bass at Clackamas Community College. As a classical bassist, he has worked with many symphony orchestras including the Oregon Symphony, Portland Opera and Ballet Orchestras, and has played in the pit with national Broadway touring companies including Victor/Victoria, Grease, Big as well as many regional productions. Jazz bass performances include concerts with Mose Allison, Terrence Blanchard, Dave Brubeck, Paquito D’Rivera, Kurt Elling, Herb Ellis, Dave Frishberg, Benny Golson, and Diane Shurr. Pop performances include concerts with Frankie Avalon, Andrea Bocelli, The Eagles, Sheena Easton, Fabian, Marvin Hamlisch, Il Divo, The Moody Blues World Orchestra, Kenny Rankin, The Shirelles, Toni Tenille, Mason Williams and Brian Wilson.
Drummer, producer, and educator, Brent Follis, was raised on a farm in Southern Illinois. One of his earliest musical memories is picking up a pair of wooden spoons, and tapping out rhythms on some old popcorn tins.
Since then, his journey has led him cross country and around the globe, performing music for thousands of people, while searching for inspiration and culture. After receiving his degree in Advertising and music performance from Southern Illinois University, he transplanted himself in the fertile soil of the Pacific Northwest. After receiving a call from a friend and musical writing partner on the East Coast, and needing to fulfill his yearning for diversity, culture, and thin crust pizza, he moved to New York City.
After a decade of performing, traveling, and immersing himself deep within the trenches of NYC, he made the sojourn back to the Rose City, where he maintains a busy recording and performance schedule as a first-call performer and session drummer. Versatile across all styles, Follis’ dedication to his craft has earned him admiration from the best musicians in the Pacific Northwest. His supportive yet understated style makes him the perfect accompanist whose mission is to elevate the music rather than to steal the spotlight for himself.
