Every dollar raised goes towards the Burwell School Historic Site. Monies raised at the auction will:
- Fund the maintenance required to preserve our 200-year-old house and grounds
- Continue to offer free tours to individuals and school groups
- Expand research on Burwell family members, students, teachers, and the free and enslaved Black individuals who lived and worked here
- Finance innovative educational programs, exhibits, and tour materials
How does the auction support our mission? Through your generosity at last year's event, we were able to:
- Host nearly 300 students for free, customized tours
- Restore the exterior of our rare 1837 brick schoolhouse
- Serve nearly 50% more visitors
- Present 12 free programs for our community
