Marcus Finnie’s and the Art of Listening, a night of listening and improvisational music, rooted in Soul, Jazz, R&B and Rock featuring Mike Seal on guitar, Matt Endahl on piano and a double drum setup with two of Nashville’s premier drummers extraordinaire; Marcus Finnie and Jordan Perlson.

Bandleader, Memphis native and Nashville resident Marcus Finnie leads the group. Marcus has toured and recorded with an impressive resume of artists. The list includes Keb’ Mo’ & Taj Mahal, Donna Summer, Kirk Whalum, Dave Koz’s Summer Horns, India Arie, Billy Preston, Earl Klugh, Lady Antebellum Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Michael McDonald, Lalah Hathaway, among others.

Mike Seal is a grammy-nominated guitarist and composer based in Nashville, TN. Originally from Bridgewater, Virginia, he's played out of Tennessee and Georgia for the past ten years, touring and recording with a wide variety of bands including: The Jerry Douglas Band, Sierra Hull, Bob Lanzetti, Jeff Sipe Trio, Sarah Siskind, The Jeff Coffin Mu-tet, Ike Stubblefield, Yonrico Scott, Keith L. Brown, Taylor Lee, The Black Lillies, and Robinella. Mike has performed and recorded on many projects as a guitarist, pianist, arranger and composer. Jerry Douglas' latest album, 'What If', features his guitar work and composition work. His background is primarily in jazz, but you will hear him performing a wide range of music spanning many genres.

Matt Endahl is a pianist, composer and educator, currently based in Nashville TN. Since moving to Nashville in 2013 he has performed in groups led by Jeff Coffin, Chester Thompson, Dara Tucker, Rahsaan Barber, Duffy Jackson, Christina Watson, Marcus Finnie, and many others. He’s shared the stage with legendary figures like Jimmy Heath, Henry Grimes, David Liebman, Jane Ira Bloom, Arthur Blythe, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Marcus Belgrave, Roger Humphries, Dave Douglas, Nicolas Bearde, and Karrin Allyson.

Drummer Jordan Perlson is one of the most dynamic and catalytic musicians on the scene today. He transplanted from NYC to Nashville in 2016 but remains an integral part of a wide international music scene. Be it with cutting edge music innovators like Becca Stevens, Snarky Puppy, Banda Magda, progressive musicians Adrian Belew, Echolyn, Kaki King, fusion megastar Hiromi, jazz legends Seamus Blake, Gary Burton, David Liebman, folk heroes Alison Brown, Missy Raines, reggae giants Matisyahu, or Trevor Hall, Jordan has become a well known and sought after force in these many musical circles.

All patrons are required to provide proof that you are vaccinated for Covid-19, OR proof of a negative Covid-19 test that was administered within 72 hours of the date on which you are attending a show at Rudy’s Jazz Room. Proof of vaccination and test results must bear a name that matches the government-issued identification for the patron that is seeking entry. We accept a picture or scan on your cell phone, photocopy, or original document of your CDC-issued vaccination card. We will accept a printed, or digital copy of a negative Covid-19 test result from a test given within 72 hours of the date of the show you are attending.

This show is 21 and over only. All sales are final and we unfortunately cannot offer any refunds. Additional tickets may be available at the door on the day of the show even if it is sold out online.

Please try to arrive 15 minutes prior to the show start time. If you do not arrive within 45 minutes after the show start time on your ticket your seat may be resold to other patrons at the door. If you arrive after 45 minutes from the start time of the show and your ticket has been resold, although we cannot guarantee it, we will try our best to make space for you to attend the show.
