About this Event
The theme for this meet up is:
"Navigating mental health services for your autistic child: a parent's perspective"
We are delighted to be welcoming Olive Kayongo back to the Wellbeing Hub to lead our March parent-carer meet-up.
About Olive Kayongo:
Olive is an autistic mother whose lived experience of supporting an autistic young person through a mental health crisis drives her commitment to empowering families and fostering collaboration. She works to help families strengthen relationships, advocates for equity and inclusion and ensures every voice is valued.
As an active contributor to education and community services, Olive strives to create environments where young people and families can thrive. Her work bridges the gap between families and professionals, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and understanding.
Description
Hosted by the Centre for Autism Wellbeing Hub at the University of Reading, these relaxed monthly meet-ups offer parents and carers of autistic children a welcoming space to connect, share experiences, and gain valuable insights from researchers and experts from the University and beyond.
Each session begins with a brief talk from our guest speaker related to the monthly theme, followed by informal discussions where families can discuss their experiences, exchange knowledge and share expertise. Refreshments will be available.
Spaces are limited to allow for meaningful conversations and discussion, so we encourage you to book early to secure your spot.
More information including how to find us will be sent to attendees on booking. Please email us if we can offer any assistance: [email protected].
