Prepare to bring your long-awaited dance aspirations to life! This workshop is designed to immerse you in the best of Broadway and Jazz Dance Technique, offering a dynamic and engaging experience.
The first half of the workshop will feature a captivating showcase of Broadway’s greatest hits, presented through an energetic mashup of musical selections. Participants will learn choreography that embodies the vibrancy of musical theatre, including movements such as jive kicks, boogie walks, triple-time rhythms, cha-cha footwork, and syncopated grapevines. Dancing as a team, you will explore structured yet expressive sequences that will get you moving with enthusiasm, all while refining your technique in a supportive and engaging environment.
The second half will shift focus to the nuanced and fluid movements of Jazz Dance Technique. Here, you will delve into the foundational elements of jazz, exploring châiné turns, pirouette technique, Bob Fosse-inspired styling, and the mind-body connection essential to jazz performance. This session offers an opportunity to dissect and refine specific jazz steps while deepening your understanding of intricate choreography.
The workshop follows a two-part rotation system, with two classes running simultaneously in the upstairs and downstairs studios. Each session will last 50 minutes, with a 10-minute intermission allowing time for a short break, hydration, and transition between classes.
Understanding that schedules vary, we have introduced a flexible participation option. If needed, you may choose to attend only one hour of the workshop, selecting either the **Musical Theatre session (upstairs)** or the **Jazz session (downstairs)** upon arrival (at either 6:30 or 7:30 PM). Those attending for the full duration will have the opportunity to experience both sessions, led by **Shaidon Woods** alongside a **special guest instructor** (to be announced in early March).
We want to ensure that everyone can participate, whether for one or both hours. This workshop promises an evening of **innovation, artistry, movement, and most importantly, FUN**—the perfect way to spend a Friday night. We look forward to seeing you there!
