UW Geography Sept Chair Dr. Sarah Elwood will speak on Feminist Leadership and Public Universities. Elwood’s research and teaching focus on urban geographies and creative politics forged by marginalized communities fighting for justice, equity and self-determination.Elwood will reflect on some of the enduring lessons of her academic experience in the midst of overlapping crises – pandemic, political violence, dwindling budgets, personnel shortages, unprecedented levels of precarity and distress – and the tenets of feminist practice and accountable relationality that continue to guide her leadership.
