Beware the ides of March as the Las Vegas Celtic Society Book Club uncovers the terrible secret of The Picture of Dorian Gray, a classic novel and the best known work of Irish author and poet, Oscar Wilde.
The Picture of Dorian Gray tells the story of a handsome young man, Dorian Gray, who makes a Faustian bargain, living a double life in which his outward beauty hides his inner depravity, as his portrait becomes a hideous record of his soul. In this, Wilde’s only novel, the author explores the themes of hedonism, vanity, society’s superficiality, corruption, and the duality of human nature. It blends Gothic horror with philosophical fiction, serving as a cautionary tale about vanity and the dark side of aestheticism.
Please join us on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 6p-8p in McMullan’s Irish Pub’s Victorian Room to discuss this classic literary work of one of Ireland’s most brilliant artists.
Our space at the pub has been reserved in advance, so please do RSVP at [email protected] so we can make sure everyone is comfortable.
The Celtic Society Book Club is open to all interested, even if you don’t have time to finish the book! All are welcome to come share in the conversation and camaraderie.
