"March Break Tank School" is a special daily presentation series all about the many aspects of tanks and armoured vehicles. Discover what it takes to deploy these incredible military machines in battle, from the different types of vehicles used in military forces, to their weapons, and the people who operate them.
"March Break Tank School" is not a March Break camp, and children should always visit with an adult.
Presentations begin daily at 1:00 PM:
Monday: Tea in a Tank! Food and Drinks in Armoured Vehicles
Did you know it is possible to make tea, other drinks, and even entire meals in a tank? Discover all the food, drink, and other ration options that keep tank crews fed for battle. Bring your own mug and teabag to enjoy a hot drink just like a tank crew!
Tuesday: Firing Now! Weapons Used On and Against Tanks
Tanks bring powerful weapons to the fight, and it takes just as big a weapon to stop them. See examples of the cannons, machine guns, bazookas, mines, and other tank and anti-tank weapons in the museum's collection!
Wednesday: There's Your Seat: The Roles of the Tank Crew
It takes a specially trained team to run a powerful war machine. Join in a fun activity to find out how the different roles and jobs of each tank crew member and how they help make the mission succeed.
Thursday: Bring Your Kit: Tank Equipment and Tools
A specially trained team needs specialty equipment to do their jobs. Find out all about the tools, equipment, and other essential items that tank crew members wear and use to protect themselves and keep their tank rolling!
Friday: Hiding in Plain Sight: Paint Your Own Camouflage, a Paint-and-Sip Activity with "Crafted. Art Bar"
Tanks use camouflage paint schemes to help hide themselves from the enemy. Join the museum in partnership with "Crafted. Art Bar" for a paint-and-sip workshop where you get to paint your own tank camouflage scheme and can access a cash bar of unique handcrafted non-alcoholic beverages! Please note that tickets to participate in this activity are priced and sold separately from museum admission tickets. All food and drink items also are sold separately.
The following items may not be brought by visitors into events at the Canadian Tank Museum (herein referred to as “the Museum”):
Political or extremist clothing, iconography, flags, or badges
Alcohol, cannabis products, and illicit drugs, except as prescribed by a registered physician or other certified medical professional
Glass containers
Pets, except for recognized service animals
Weapons and ammunition*
Fireworks, flares, pyrotechnics, detonators, or explosives*
Military or other combat or law enforcement costumes and uniforms*
*Unless previously approved by Museum management or for serving Canadian Armed Forces personnel or official emergency services workers.
March Break Tank School is a public event and by attending, you understand that your likeness and image may be photographed or videoed by other visitors, media, or by the Museum itself. You understand that your image may be portrayed on the social media, other media channels, or documentation of the Museum or third-party organizations not affiliated with the Museum. You agree to save harmless the Museum for any portrayals of your image in any media that may be generated from the event.
