About this Event
A Special Edition of The Storytelling Supper Club: The Grief Dinner
This is the second annual Grief Edition of The Sweet Antelope Storytelling Supper Club, created as a space to gather around the shared, often unspoken experience of grief and loss.
Grief touches far more than death alone. It can arise from the loss of a person, a relationship, a home, a body, a future you imagined, or a version of yourself that no longer exists. It may show up as old or unresolved grief, legacy or ancestral burden, grief from relationship endings, menopause, empty nest syndrome, post-partum experiences, or the collective grief of living in uncertain and heartless times. Grief is rarely linear, often isolating, and difficult to carry alone.
This evening is an invitation to come together in community—to sit at the table with others who understand loss in its many forms, and to tend to what has been changed, broken open, or made more tender by it.
We are thrilled to feature our special guest, Tree Carr, an author, Transpersonal Therapist, and Death Doula whose work centres on helping people develop compassionate, honest relationships with grief, loss, and remembrance. Tree will guide the group through the art of Grief Tending, exploring what it means to meet grief not as something to fix, suppress, or bypass, but as a teacher and a living presence in our lives.
Through meditation, gentle inquiry, reframing practices, written reflection, and a simple fire ritual, Tree will guide participants in interfacing with grief in its many expressions—honouring grief from death, from endings, from bodily and life transitions, and from the collective weight of the times we are living in. This is a space for integration and embodiment, where grief is allowed to move, speak, soften, and be witnessed.
Following the guided experience, we’ll gather for an intimate, nourishing three-course dinner. The meal will be grounding and thoughtfully prepared, and the evening will weave in powerful storytelling. Around the table, guests will be invited (never required) to share stories of loss—of people, relationships, identities, moments, or paths that have been left behind. This is not a performance, but a practice of listening, witnessing, and being witnessed.
The whole experience is intended as a healing balm in dark and grievous times. It is precisely in heartless times that we are called to return to the heart—together. This is a human-centred evening rooted in care, presence, community, and honest connection.
This dinner is for anyone carrying grief, whether recent or long-held. No prior experience with storytelling or grief work is needed—only a willingness to sit together, eat well, and meet what is true in community.
Hosted in Sweet Antelope's historic West Adams home, the three course dinner menu is inspired by what we harvest that week from our backyard farm.
This night is also co-hosted by Jessica Hundley and The Library of Esoterica, Taschen's best-selling encyclopedic series on the art and history of mystical traditions such as tarot, astrology and ritual. Jessica's work explores the counterculture with a focus on metaphysics, psychedelia, and magic. Her writing has been published in Vogue, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times and she has authored & edited several acclaimed books on art, music and culture.
